FIRST Robotics Competition Boston District

I spent the weekend volunteering at the FIRST Robotics Competition district event in Boston. I spent a fair amount of time on crowd control, but I did get to watch some matches. My favorite part: handing out awards at the end of the competition!

These were some impressive robots.

Massachusetts Region IV Science and Engineering Fair Judging

Coming full-circle from my own science fair days in high school, I was a judge for the computer and engineering categories at the MSSEF Region IV science fair! I highly recommend the experience of judging. Some of the students’ projects were very impressive! My favorite: a student who build a guide robot for his visually impaired mother.

Introduce A Girl to Engineering Day

I was the keynote speaker at Nitsch Engineering’s Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day. This year’s theme was computer engineering, and I spoke about my path to my career as a software engineer. This was my first professional speaking engagement of this size. I hope I was able to inspire some of the girls in attendance!

FIRST Women in STEM Panel

I had the pleasure of participating in a Women in STEM hangout with Marissa from FIRST Tech Challenge today! She had lots of great questions about our experiences in STEM, and I had a great time! The hangout was recorded, so check it out on YouTube!
